Team Viking is in fine form after the best result they have had since joining the Fun Cup. At Round 2, held at the prestigious Oulton Park, the drivers of Team Viking brought the car home in eighth, a result that will surely spur them on for the rest of the season.

The four-hour race was to be a dry, but overcast affair and after qualifying Team Viking was going to start all the way down in 25th position on the grid. The order of driving sessions were chosen and Nick Nunn was to start the race, with Jim Hadfield taking second spot, and Team Principal Mark Holme to take the third stint. Each driver would drive twice.

The Team also saw a new addition with the appointment of Team Manager Jack Didcock who has been brought on board for fuel and on track strategy development – a great addition to the team.

From the start the Viking drivers were clean and clinical pushing their way up the field. At the halfway point in the race they found themselves in 12th – 13 positions ahead of where they had started!

Just as it was all going smoothly Nunn, who was on his second stint hit leaked radiator fluid at Druids and spun costing him several positions, but the team recovered and kept on fighting. With 10 minutes remaining of the race, Holme was sitting in sixth position but in an attempt to overtake he found himself off his racing line, seeing him spin and lose two positions.

Holme brought the car home in eighth and there was reason to celebrate. "This was a great team performance by all the drivers, Aaron who prepared a great car and newly appointed Team Manager Jack Didcock , we were really competitive and going to have a great season," said Holme.

Team Viking also found themselves on the podium receiving a trophy for team of the day

Round One

After the second race at Oulton, Team Viking find themselves sitting in 20th. This was due to an unfortunate incident that happened at the season opener in Silverstone.

Silverstone was also a four-hour race, but Team Viking were without Nunn and only had two drivers. Unperturbed by this, Hadfield and Holme went out and were flying around the historic circuit climbing up the timesheet.

Unfortunately for the team in the third hour of the race they had a catastrophic engine failure that put an end to their proceedings. They were running in eighth at the time. But with half the race still to go and unable to continue, their standings started to plummet. However, Holme remained positive: "I was really pleased with the result and how we were running, I was just disappointed with the outcome," he explained. "We are currently sitting in 20th in the championship, if it wasn't for the engine failure there is no reason why we wouldn't be sitting in the top ten up with the professional drivers in the series," Holme added.

Next up for Team Viking is Brands Hatch on Saturday 03 June, where there will be a four-hour race on the shorter Indy Circuit.
