As we near the halfway mark of the Fun Cup season there is a vast improvement happening at Team Viking. The car is running well and all the drivers are improving with every lap. Snetterton in Norfolk and Spa in Belgium have hosted the latest races, and the team look good going into second half of the season.

Snetterton 6 hours
Team Viking turned up at Snetterton in confident mood and ready to race. With practice taking place on the Friday, the track was dry but it was cloudy above threatening rain. The team were doing well in practice until a rival car spun out of control in front of Jim Hadfield who was driving at the time. To avoid a collision Hadfield turned and hit the Armco barrier. Team mechanic Aaron was put to work and fixed the broken wishbone in time for Qualifying.
Car 110 was fourth of the grid for the start of the six-hour race. As the green light lit up it was a dry race but by the end of the first hour the showers had started and it was a wet race.
Team Viking do not have too much experience in the wet, but they worked hard and kept the car on the track. The pit changes were quick and the team and all drivers were competing out on the track.
After a long battle the team finished in 13th – a great result considering the team's lack of experience in the wet. "I'm really pleased with how the team performed this weekend," said Mark Holme, the Team Manager. "Considering the work Aaron had to do on the car ready for racing and the fact that none of us have really had much wet racing experience we're really proud with 13th. We can really build on this momentum and keep improving on the rest of the season."

Spa 25hours

The Spa 25-hour race was going to be Team Viking's biggest challenge of their 2016 Championship. It will be their longest race to date, eclipsing the previous longest race by 15 hours!
But that wasn't the only challenge for the team this was the biggest Fun Cup race of the season. The line up consisted of 124 cars and more than 550 drivers!
To help cope with the length of the race, the team employed the services of a fourth driver, Colin Kingsnorth, who drives for the Trumans team in the UK Fun Cup.
It was an epic race and saw Team Viking finish 7th in class and 87th out of 124 teams. What makes this feat even more impressive was that the team lost two hours of track time due to mechanical problems, but team mechanic Aaron worked hard to get the car back on the circuit. "It was a fantastic weekend and the entire team worked extremely hard at Spa," said Team Manager Mark Holme. "We will take all we learnt from this weekend and put into our race at Silverstone."
The next race for Team Viking is taking place at Silverstone on 27 August.
